For about ten years AFROPUNK Festival has musically and sartorially lit up the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, showcasing emerging and established artists as well as the stylish and unique dress of their patrons. For the first time ever, the festival made its way across the pond, into the City of Light, bringing with it, artists such as Lianne La Havas and Keziah Jones as well as a fashion-forward crowd. I attended the second day of the festival, which took place indoors  (unlike its New York counterpart) at Le Trianon in Paris’ 18th arrondissement.

I remember attending a couple of the early AFROPUNK Fests in New York when it was still on its way to being the brand it is today. The Paris festival reminded me of AFROPUNK’s ‘humble’ beginnings. Although the setting was different the spirit was still the same. If history is to repeat itself, the festival in Paris is well on its way to being a looked-forward-to Summer staple for Paris’ alternative music scene.

Here are a few snaps of the second day of the fest, the cool kids that attended and a glimpse of it’s closing act–Jaden and Willow Smith.
