Why read review after review when you can just read one? We’ve combed the web to get the verdict on ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor.

ApHogee is all about making products that promote healthier and stronger hair, so it’s no surprise that one of their products claims to reconstruct our strands. The ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor contains various oils, vitamins, and amino acids that are vital for the well being of healthy hair. The Reconstructor is believed to restore softness and strength, as well as prevent split ends and breakage to hair in two minutes (or five minutes if your hair is severely damaged). It’s a product worth taking a deeper look into.

Verdict

This keratin treatment works wonders! Most users consider this product a must-have for hair care and agree that the Reconstructor is affordable, effective, and very easy to use. It seems to be excellent for those looking for a treatment that helps restore damaged hair; however, others have pointed out that the product only works effectively if your hair is damaged and is no good if your hair is healthy. It’s also best used as directed to avoid ruining your texture.

I have been a huge fan of ApHogee products even back when I was still relaxing my hair. I would use Reconstructor whenever I needed a good protein treatment and it was absolutely wonderful for my relaxed hair. I can say that it stopped my hair from shedding significantly, and it also prevented my ends from splitting. Since I went natural, I haven’t used it as much, but when I do, I find that it makes my curls bounce back. If I want to straighten or use heat on my hair, the Reconstructor nourishes my hair if I get any heat damage. Based on my usage of the product, everything that the Reconstructor claims it does seems to be true!

What the Manufacturer Says

ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor is a powerful, one step treatment that should be used for home use, between salon visits.  This concentrated blend of keratin amino acids, botanical oils, and vitamins does wonders to restore strength and softness to hair that requires a deep, penetrating treatment.  It is recommended on tinted, bleached or relaxed hair.  ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor helps repair damage caused by chlorine and hard water.  Apply on clean hair in shower and rinse to treat brittle hair with cuticle damage and moderate breakage.  It soothes irritated scalp and may be applied following each shampooing until the healthy condition of the hair is restored.

…I wanted to use it at least 4 times before I gave a review, because I wanted to get an honest feel for the reconstructing capacities of the product over time. Honestly, I’m in love. It has become a new staple in my regimen. The Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor has me realizing exactly how much I needed a super-duty protein treatment in my regimen. If your hair seems lackluster, or appears to have lost its vitality, this Reconstructor is a must. Fair warning though — although it says it will repair chemical and heat damage, take that with a grain of salt. If you have severely damaged hair (like mine circa 2012), this product won’t do much for you. But if you need to rebound from a flat ironing session or color job, this is the one. Especially if you’re not interested in that 2-Step Treatment with the God awful smelling protein concoction. This Reconstructor, quite honestly, saved my hair!

The Mane Objective

So, I used the ApHogee last Wednesday on wash day. …Of course, I immediately noticed that my hair felt harder, but it also felt heavier. Then I gently applied my [deep conditioner]. I left that in for about 30-45 minutes with heat and rinsed… What I noticed about the styling session and completed style was that my hair still felt harder than usual and wasn’t as shiny. So, I was not sure if I deep conditioned long enough. It wasn’t super hard though and some olive oil cooking spray helped with sheen, so I kept it moving (Rece also told me later that night that it won’t feel as soft as normal after a protein treatment, even with a moisturizing DC. She said, that’s why she used to alternate ApHogee with the ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Pak). …I can tell you now, a week later, that I have definitely seen an improvement!! …I could also tell that my hair was withstanding the manipulation a lot better. It really did feel stronger! !

I’ve watched other ladies use this product and while some said that the reconstructor made their hair feel dry or stripped after rinsing out this product, but I must say my hair felt very soft and moisturized. Not only did my hair not feel stripped, but it felt freshly conditioned and my curls looked very healthy and bouncy. My curls were very full and defined… and this was very impressive to me considering my hair isn’t detangled at all and I did this entire process in the dreaded sink. It felt so soft I didn’t have many tangles to deal with.

ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute and I go way back. …It’s a quick treatment for my hair and easily incorporates into my regular regimen. I shampoo and use deep conditioner as a leave-in, as usual. But I use ApHogee 2 Minute as a deep conditioning treatment in between. I typically leave it on under a heat cap on medium for however long it takes me to peruse the interwebs (15 minutes. The bottle says 5 max, but who can tear herself away from Curlynikki after 5 minutes?!). I’ve never had it interact badly with any other products. It can be used sparingly and also eases my detangling session. Used every week for a month with protective styles and I know my hair will be back in fighting shape.

Community Review from Curly Nikki

When my hair was relaxed, I never took the time to deep condition my hair. I had a pretty simple regimen which included shampoo, conditioner and a leave-in conditioner. If I had been introduced to do the idea of using a light protein treatment, my hair might have been a lot stronger. Since I was clueless back then, my color treated, chemically straightened hair broke off like mad. I heard about the ApHogee line when I was doing research on how to keep my hair from breaking. The two step protein treatment sounded a little too involved for me. However the conditioner like Keratin 2 minute Reconstructor I thought was worth a try. I started using it once a month during my transitioning period and experienced a lot more length retention.

This two-minute treatment smells like a tropical oasis. …I have been using this product weekly for two months faithfully, and my hair is now tangle-free. I thought this day would never come! I am continuing to retain length while minimizing breakage and preventing split ends. I no longer have a head full of [single-strand-knots]. Moreover, I have less shedding and hair fall. There aren’t as many strands lingering in my shower stall or hiding in my comb. And, my hair doesn’t constantly feel dry and dehydrated. I also have noticed fewer frizzes, which is a BIG deal for me because my hair has been frizz-prone since childhood! Sigh. Overall, the reconstructor has made my previously tangled hair softer, more manageable, and stronger. I am completely amazed. …A definite must for my relaxed hair divas or color-treated naturalistas!

When it comes to protein my hair doesn’t always necessarily agree with it; my mane doesn’t really like hard protein treatments. That’s why with finding a protein treatment that is light but still effective I have to keep it in the routine. After using it my hair feels stronger and is more manageable. Shedding has reduced significantly using this in conjunction with the Pura d’or Conditioner which I’ve been using as a pre-poo conditioner as of late. My hair is definitely reacting positively to getting this product back into its regime. The ApHogee 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor is definitely another one of my Holy Grail Hair Care products.

This reconstructor does what it says — It strengthens and softens my hair in one step. (I find the product most effective when I leave it on for 5 minutes and with heat.) Additionally, after a few months, I noticed less split end formation. I would say that this reconstructor is great for if you need a little-to-some protein. For more severe cases, you may want to step up the ApHogee Keratin Two Minute Treatment. Other than the above, there is not much else to say! :o)

Healthy Hair and Body

After my wash I towel dried and applied a couple dollops of the product into my hands and throughout my hair. …I left it in for about 5 minutes while I prepared more of my fabulous leave-in mix. Next I rinsed the product. My hair felt nice as the product rinsed out. The feeling was that of strength and moisture. There was no need to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner. After my rollers were taken down, the very first thought that came to my mind was “wow, look how bouncy my hair is!” My curls were fluffy, light and carefree! …Two thumbs up!
