Why read review after review when you can just read one? We’ve “combed” the web to get the verdict on Carol’s Daughter Transitioning Kit.

The Carol’s Daughter Transitioning Kit includes three products designed to support hair during a transition from relaxed hair to natural hair. Using chemical relaxers on the hair damages the scalp and can prevent healthy hair growth so it is necessary to include scalp care in any transitioning regimen. This kit includes a gentle shampoo for cleansing the hair (4 fl. oz.), a revitalizing scalp spray (4 fl. oz.), and a thick conditioner-like anti-breakage treatment (5.5 fl. oz.) for protecting the delicate line of demarcation between the relaxed hair and the natural hair. At $40 per kit, it’s a little pricey but may be worth it for three high quality products that work together to provide a healthy transitioning experience. Are the products effective? Are all of the products necessary? Let’s see…

main takeaway

This product is a great all-in-one solution for transitioners. Many people who reviewed the product were already 100% natural and said that the kit worked for their hair as well. The kit comes with a pamphlet that explains how to transition, suggests protective styles, gives hair care tips, and more. So this kit is very useful for someone who is just beginning their natural hair journey. There were a lot of mixed reviews about the product itself. Most of the controversy lay with the shampoo, but overall everyone seemed to feel that this was a decent product that was worth the price.

  • The anti-breakage treatment provides great slip and works as a detangler.

  • This product features many natural ingredients and includes nutrients essential for scalp and hair health.
  • Many reviewers reported a decrease in hair shedding after using these products.

Cons

  • Some people said the shampoo was drying and others said that it didn’t do a great job at cleansing.
  • The package size is very small and may not be worth the money.
  • Some reviewers ran out of one of the products before the others.

Sugarcane extract, biotin, and vera fruit extract help to heal a scalp burned by straightening chemicals, creating a healthy environment for hair to grow. The spray bottle allows you to easily get the product on, and the refreshing tingling massage gives that clean, cooling feeling. It’s like a sea breeze facial for your scalp

I think it’s a great product for someone that has no clue as to what you are to do to manage transitioning hair…But if you already have a routine then this kit may slow you down a bit. Someone that already knows how to wash, detangle, condition, and massage/exfoliate their hair will not necessarily see an added benefit from this product.

The shampoo is only 4fl oz and I felt I used over a 1/4 of the bottle trying to work up even the smallest lather. After my wash I could tell that my scalp wasn’t 100% clean.

The fact that it has biotin in it makes me wary since it does nothing for your hair if applied topically. I feel like that’s just a power word/ingredient used to make people buy it because of what it’s supposed to do for hair health.

The shampoo (step 1) will strip your hair of product build-up, but can be drying. I liked the Renewing Scalp Spray (step 2). It is cooling and stimulating. The Anti-Breakage treatment (step 3) is good and provided excellent slip for me.

The scent is not especially pleasant, but it’s bearable.

The cleanser lathers so it did dry out my hair. Had to cut back on using it twice a month. Didn’t really notice a difference in my hair texture.
