Watch:

  • They’ve kept us anxiously waiting on the edge of our seats all summer long for the return of what may be one of television’s best dramas to date.  Yep! SCANDAL returns to ABC this week and by the looks of the promos, this season is going to be juuuiiicccyyyy!  We last left off with Ms. Olivia Pope being confronted by her dad in the back of a blacked out car after being ousted as the President’s mistress. Yikes!  No matter how the cookie crumbles, we just know that Olivia and her gladiators in suits will find a way to fix THE mess to end all messes.  Tune in on October 3rd, check local listings for times.
  • It’s Fall which means the release of Oscar bait movies and we’ve heard a lot of amazing things about the critically acclaimed “12 Years a Slave”. Set before the Civil War, this film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Children of Men”) – one of our favorite Nigerian actors as Solomon Northup, a freeman living in upstate New York who is taken and sold into slavery.  The film is based on a true story and also stars Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Fassbender, Paul Dano, Alfre Woodard and Paul Giamatti.  The movie hits theaters October 18th nationwide.

Read:

  • The New York Times best-selling book “The Tools” (Random House) has been touted as a dynamic, results-oriented practice that aims to deliver relief from persistent problems and restore control—and hope—to readers right away. Every day presents challenges—big and small—that the Tools transform into opportunities to bring about bold and dramatic change in your life.  Definitely a must-buy!  Practically everyone we know has this book and swears by it. Available in bookstores nationwide.
The Electric Lady Deluxe Album Cover

Listen:

  •  Janelle Monae always seems to defy labels while transcending genres and her latest studio effort, Electric Lady is no exception.  We’re loving the sounds Monae is serving up this time around and especially on tracks featuring Erykah Badu, the purple one himself, Prince and of course her single with R&B crooner Miguel.  The album is now available on iTunes.

Do:

  • Start a side business! Ever thought about turning a hobby into a way to bring in extra money?  Perhaps you have a knack for creating floral arrangements or baking cookies? No matter the talent or hobby, we are big believers in multiple revenue streams and finding a way to capitalize on things that make you happy whether or not you could make money doing it. Once you zero in on what that is for you, make a plan and go for it.  Who knows, you may find a whole new calling.
