Pretty is a digital postcard from women around the world to women around the world as told through a weekly documentary series. It explores just how nuanced beauty can be by not only taking a look at how beauty standards vary from country to country but also how they might vary within a city.

In London we had the pleasure of meeting six lovely women all with different backgrounds and perspective, and together are the perfect example of the diversity that exists in the City of London. Enjoy all  seven of the London episodes.

What’s Pretty in London?

The British are here! We’ve left Milan and find ourselves in London, one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. Here we meet a diverse group of girls who chat about London style, culture and whether or not there’s such thing as Black beauty.

Frédérique – “Beauty is a Smile” – Fashion blogger, stylist and confidence coach Frédérique talks style, being inspired by London and hypersexualization of young girls.

Adora – “Beauty is Loving Yourself” – Nigerian-Ghananian Londoner Adora Mba discusses what she loves about London, her laid-back style and how she deals with pressure to fit a certain beauty standard.

Fatima – “Beauty is Knowing You’re Enough” – Hailing from Sweden, Fatima Oliwer has lived in London for 11 years. She discusses growing up with a Sengalese, Gambian and Swedish heritage and finding her beauty after moving countries.

Alma – “Beauty is the Depth of Your Humanity” – Feeling beautiful is not something that has necessarily come easily to Londoner Alma Eno. She candidly shares why and discusses what she’s doing now to feel good in he skin.

Melinda – “Beauty is Having Purpose” – Londoner Melinda owns her sexuality, describing her style is sexy and comfortable (when possible). This spunky Brit opens up about liposuction and what it took for her to recognize her own beauty.

Minna – “Beauty is Questioning Beauty” – Pan-African Feminist Minna Salami, encourages women to question beauty and shares what she discovered upon doing so herself.
