Afro Punk Paris – The Best Hair Looks

It’s so fun to watch something grow. I remember when AfroPunk Fest was a small festival in Ft Green and now it takes place in five cities across the world, Paris being one of them. This past weekend I attended the second day of the festival in Paris. Let me just say the AfroPunk crew really did an excellent job. The first two times they held the festival in Paris it was indoors at Le Trianon. It was interesting to experience the festival indoors but it felt a bit constrained, as though it didn’t quite have room to be all that it could be. This year, however, just two years later, the festival took place at the sprawling Parc de la Villette and had ample room to spread its wings.  I know the music is a big part of the festival but I came for two things: the food (the Black Spoon food truck has the best Aloko (plantains) in Paris), and the hair looks (and of course the overall vibe).

Here are my favorite hair looks from Day 2 of the festival.

A Classic Global ‘Fro & Blown Out Natural Hair

Braided Dyed Drama

Braided Hairstyles

As you can imagine there were a variety of braided looks on display. I love a good braided bob, especially with micro thin braids. Then, of course, this super high braided up do caught my eye.

Playing With Color

You can always expect to see a lot of color at AfroPunk. This year the greys and blonds had it.

Wraps, Hats and Shades

It was a surprisingly warm day out last weekend so all the cool kid sunglasses came out. But the heat didn’t stop ladies from toping of their looks with colorful head wraps or hats.

The Show Stoppers

There were two looks I really fell in love with this. The first was this side parted a-symetricall ‘fro with all her accessories and color palette of her whole look.

The second look were these gorgeous coiled up locs. I loved the copper rings; they gave the look an extra boho touch.
