Question:  Lakeitha asks:  I am contemplating becoming natural again. I live in Montana, where there is very little humidity and it seems my hair is always screaming for moisture. Are there any products you recommend? Do drier climates really affect one’s hair? Also, are there any suggestions in helping my hair grow? At one point it seemed stagnant. My hair texture is 4a, corkscrew type curls. Thanks!

Answer:  Lakeitha – dry climates can definitely affect one’s hair and moisture is key for maintaining healthy, natural hair.  In addition to using ultra-moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and styling products, I would highly recommend periodically using a hot oil treatment.  Drinking plenty of fluids and keeping your body hydrated is a great defense to combat dry hair.  I might also recommend vitamin supplements best known for maintaining optimum hair health and encouraging growth such as fish oils, and vitamin E.
