The Oscars are less than a month away; so we’re looking at the stand-out hair trends we’ve seen so far this award season at both the Golden Globes and, most recently, the SAG awards.
Real Housewife of Atlanta and co-star of NBC’s “The New Normal,” Nene Leakes, looked stunning in her platinum blonde pixie cut while Academy Award-Winning actress, Halle Berry wowed in her standard cropped do, with subtle highlights. We love both looks on both ladies.
Bangin’ it Out!
On the red carpet we also saw, lots bang action with everyone from actress Kerry Washington to host, Sean Robinson and Olympian, Gabby Douglass all sporting bang-inspired looks. We hate to say it but, we weren’t too impressed with Gabby’s look. The hair was too high! It made her look older and just wasn’t very flattering.
Our favorite look on the Golden Globes red carpet was Hollywood glam. Actress Rosario Dawson, Nicole Richie and Jennifer Lopez all rocked glamorous big waves inspired by old Hollywood. Jennifer Lopez sported a side swept look while Nicole Richie and Rosario kept it elegant and unfussy.
A distant relative of big old Hollywood waves, the Swoop emerged on the SAG red carpet in a variety of forms. Actress, Alfre Woodard wore hers voluminous and layered, while singer Jordin Sparks wore hers neatly tucked into a low bun. Kerry Washington went for the sleek approach, minimizing distractions from the elegant bodice she wore.
This emerging trend is one wouldn’t mind seeing more of. Viola Davis, sported her ever-so-flattering auburn “low-fro” (the background of that image is kinda funny), while up-and-comer Teyona Parris donned a very sculpted natural up do.
With these five trends on our radar, we wonder if we’ll see more of the same come Oscar time or if a few starlets will push the envelope and not just open them ;0). Looking forward to see what our favorite stars have in store! We’ll be tuned in and tweetin‘ on February 24th.
