from the editor: a return to glam

September is a big month in fashion.  Consider it the beginning of the Fashion New Year.  Designers unveil all new lines and with the holiday/shopping season nearby, advertisers scramble to buy up ad space in all mediums, especially print, to make sure consumers like me and you are thinking about them when we hit the mall (or boutiques).  The result is typically very large fashion magazines filled with all that glitters and screams, “buy, buy, buy!”

Being on the brink of a new sartorial beginning, we’re not just thinking about hair this month, but everything that makes up one’s appearance. And since change is both in the season as it is in the pages of magazines, we’ve decided to take things up a notch here at Un’ruly.  This month we’re calling for a return to glam–both the typical definition as well as your own personal one.  We want you to be your most glamorous you.  To me glamour is feeling and harnessing the power of your unique brand of beauty.  It’s doing so to the point that you’re slightly unapproachable and you don’t care if people are intimidated.  It’s feeling like the best you that you can be, unabashedly.

Among the fun things we have in store for you this month, we’ll be taking a look at self-expression through our exteriors as well as a glimpse into the highest echelons of the fashion world.  We thus want you to indulge yourself in the superficialities of you this month, all the external stuff.  The stuff that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things but is worth thinking about sometimes because, let’s face it, when you look good you feel good.

So tell us, what’s your personal definition of glam and how do you show it to the world?

Best,

Antonia

An entrepreneur at heart, I founded Unruly in 2013 after spending six great years in advertising. I’m über lazy when it comes to doing my hair so I’m always looking for easy and quick ways to care and style my hair.
