A deep bow of gratitude to my baby sis theearthstewardess for dreaming up a colorful wedding. For my matron of honor dress she asked me to wear something vibrant and with texture. There were at least 20 other dresses I sent her before she approved this one. Doria thank you for pushing me outside my comfort zone. I’ve unearthed new territory. 🔸💫
👏🏽BIG 👏🏽NEWS! Ecstatic to announce BlckInCorporate`s partnership with KERING (Kering_Official)!
As a Black individual whose professional corporate experience is in luxury fashion, I find it pertinent to create pathways for other Black professionals specifically in this sector that will help propel them towards long-lasting success. Last fall of 2020 BIC launched a virtual mentorship program to give Black professionals direct access to seasoned Black executives and for the summer BIC and Kering will collaborate on a intensive virtual mentorship program.
This partnership is the first of its kind, offering corporate Black professionals direct access to individuals across Kering Americas and its Houses including Gucci, Bottega, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and more. This will be a month-long mentorship program wherein mentees will have access to resources, opportunities, and more during a pivotal point in their careers.
For information on how to apply for the virtual mentorship program, please follow blckincorporate and visit blckincorporate.com.
Special thank you to mr_aphillips and sadetey for helping this come to fruition! So thrilled for this journey and BIC couldn’t have done this without you both. 🙏🏽
When I first got these braids done bru_haha and I talked about the perceived professionalism of different hairstyles specifically for black people.
For context, I pretty much wear my hair how I want for the most part and don`t really think about what will be considered appropriate for my work environment. I wanted straight back cornrows and I got them, simple as that! 🙅🏽♀️ However, I am fully aware that for a lot of people there are a combination of explicit and implicit factors that deter them from wearing certain hairstyles in certain environments.
I am writing this because I am curious about how you feel about the professionalism of certain hairstyles.
Do you ever feel like you can`t wear your hair a certain way in certain environments? What makes you feel that way? Have you been explicitly reprimanded for wearing certain hairstyles?
Please share your thoughts down below in the comments! 👇🏽I look forward to continuing the conversation ‼️
For now, I leave you with this: YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WEAR YOUR HAIR HOW YOU WANT WHENEVER YOU WANT and that`s on PERIODT ‼️🐸
