Strength seems to be in the air this month as three women put their talents on display. Here’s our round up of covers worth covering.
Tennis player Serena Williams graced the cover of New York Magazine’s fashion issue, effortlessly making a statement about strength, elegance and beauty. Her side-parted straight hair matched the sleekness of the all-black ensembles she donned in each shot. The article that accompanied the stunning visuals published online and in the August 10, 2015 issue of the publication takes a look at where Williams stands at this point in her career with 21 Grand Slams behind her, having been bred by a determined father to be the super athlete that she is.
Elsewhere, on a similarly physical note, actress Kerry Washington was featured on the September 2015 cover of Self magazine with a shiny bone straight middle part. The Scandal star appears serene and lean as she strikes a pose, drawing from her long practice of Pilates.
Then of course we have the Queen. Rapper/actress/media mogul Queen Latifah appears on this week’s cover of Variety in which she talks business–from her start as a female rapper to forming her on management company and crossing over to acting. Her golden messy curls are a fun juxtaposition to her black and white plaid blazer. She recently stared in the HBO TV biopic Bessie, in which she plays legendary blues singer Bessie Smith.
