Twice a year, designers from around the globe hold shows during Fashion Week to show off their latest collections- broadcasting the official word on what is in and what is out for the next year. Last week, New York City led this year’s events at Lincoln Center, revelling in the height of its sophistication. Outside the shows, we spotted a generous helping of models, fans, and fashionistas strutting their stuff on the street, displaying a more realistic reflection of the stylish goodies the runway had to offer. Here are the fashionistas whose style and hair caught our eye.
It might be the daisy necklace or this fashionista’s mega-watt smile that makes her look unexpectedly sweet, given her outfit’s dark color palette. Whatever it is, we’re loving the mix of textures in her blouse as well her mix of accessories. The necklace and black hat give the look a nice twist, while the big barrel curls in her hair keep the look feminine.
Speaking of hats, this oversized floppy caught our attention. It killed two birds with one stone, making a fashion statement as well as keeping the sun out of the way. The look overall, is very much a comfortable easy-going one, with a tad of an edge given the black and white color blocks and big bold print.
So much drama! We spotted the lovely model, blogger and image creater, Nikia Phoenix of Model Liberation, wearing her TWA (teeny weeny afro) with a striped jacket and a red lip. Simple yet commanding, she too worked a neutral palette, but didn’t hesitate to show off her stunning gams.
This look was elegantly minimal from head to toe–a body-hugging dressed, layered with a loose blouse and topped off with a sleek center-parted pony tail.
Fashion stylist June Ambrose made an appearance with a stand out tartan coat draped around her shoulders. She decorated her curly tresses with what appeared to be two poofy flower clips, reminding us a little of Sailor Moon.
We were super excited to see none other than vlogger and funny girl all around @chescaleigh in a beautiful locked up do. We also loved the pop of color on her eyes! (To this day her s** white girls say video still keeps ups LOLing.)
This naturalista kept things cool and classic with her curly high-top (which reminded us of one of the high-tops feature we featured here) and a denim jacket.
High fashion reached new heights with this mega-tall pony tail. This gal about town, kept things funky and accessorized her black and white print mini dress with round glasses and a purple lip.
Calm, cool, and collected in a blue billowing blouse, this fashionista added a little sophistication to her look with shoulder pads adorned by her flowing shoulder-legnth hair.
Meanwhile, while Naomi Campbell proved to the world that she still has what it takes by closing the Diane Von Furstenburg show, these little up-and-comers strutted their stuff outside the shows to a large crowd of onlookers. One day these girls are gonna run the world!
