Home Pretty, a Look Beauty Everywhere Pretty: London
Meet the Girls & the City

Seeing this arch brought back memories of Paris. But we weren’t on Champs Elysées, we were at one of the major entrances of the very big and beautiful Hyde Park. (Side note: arches like this seem to be all over Western Europe, from Paris to Milan, Berlin and Barcelona).

Born in Sweden and now living in London, Fatima has spent a good portion of her life traveling the globe and has at least four languages under her belt.

Like many Londoners, Frédérique hails from somewhere else, Paris to be specific. She fell in love with London after interning some years back and eventually became a stylist for popular clothing retailer, ASOS. She recently launched a confidence coaching program where she helps participants build confidence and an awesome wardrobe. Follow her style-spirational instagram: http://instagram.com/igobyfrankie/

The Duomo: When you first see Milan’s Duomo, it hits you like…whoa. Being Italy’s biggest church and the world’s fifth largest church, it took nearly six centuries to build. Heads up ladies: if you plan on taking a peak inside the Duomo, be sure to wear pants, as legs must be covered.

Nigerian-Finnish writer Minna Salami is the force behind the enlightening pan-African feminist blog MsAfropolitan.com. Her accomplishments are too many to count here, so definitely learn more about Minna and her insights here: http://www.msafropolitan.com

Hidden within the winding streets around Borough Market is this colorful art installation, appropriate for a city that’s typically rainy. Per Time Out Magazine “it was installed during the Olympics for reasons that remain unclear.” To find it google ‘Del Mercato Borough Market.’

Raised in London Alma, an actress, appreciates the city’s diversity, and describes it as a melting pot of different cultures.

The River Thames runs right through London dividing it into it’s North and South parts. Fun fact: The Thames has been used for two summer Olympic games.

Having both Nigerian and Ghanaian heritage and having lived in many of the major cities of the world, Adora, a producer at Arise TV, feels right at home in London. Adora describes her style as laid back but that can be said too of her personality as she carries herself with a cool, calm and collected air. It’s easy to get lost in Hyde Park and feel like you’re no longer in London. The large park has many nooks and crannies to get lost in and plethora of beautiful birds to admire. But be careful of the pigeons, they’re as gansta as the pigeons in NY, they’ll come after you if there’s even the slightest hint of food.

In addition to the typical tourist sites, London is filled with all kinds of performances.

London’s the perfect mix of modernity and tradition. We spotted this succession of horse drawn carriages trotting through Hyde Park just before we interviewed Adora.

Melinda is one of those people that lights up a room the moment she enters it, being boisterous and lighthearted. She’s a teacher who, like many others, appreciates the mélange of cultures London has to offer as well as its years of heritage.
