– by Chadette Maragh

Scented to the likes of a freshly blossomed, peppermint bouquet, Miss Jessie’s Curly Butter Crème is a lush, velvety blend of all natural ingredients and keratin designed to revitalize dry lifeless tresses with a curl enhancing boost of moisture, body and shine. Known for its hit or miss reputation among naturals, the self proclaimed daily moisturizer has worked miracles for some and played out as nightmares for others.

main takeaway

As a hydrating moisturizer and curl booster Miss Jessie’s Curly Butter Crème caters best to looser curl patterns (i.e. 3A, B, C and 4A hair types) and transitioning tresses. Avoid build up by applying a dime size amount during each application (every other day use recommended). Also, be sure to add weekly co-washes as well as biweekly to monthly clarifying shampoo sessions into your hair regimen while using the product. It’s best used as a twist/braid out and bantu knot moisturizing and styling crème, as it provides a gentle yet effective hold.

what the manufacturer says

Super moisturizing daily maintenance hydration crème softens like no other. Formulated with a scalp tingling peppermint essence: a true peppermint patty experience! Also works excellent as a daily moisturizer after Curly Pudding, Curly Meringue application. Banishes dry hair and adds a plump sheen to lifeless curls.

what the bloggers say

The Buttercreme is a thick, mint-scented moisturizing cream that slathers on thick and leaves my curls super-moist and heavy. It has a strong scent that eventually fades, and it also has a refreshing minty tingle on the scalp. But both products really worked to bring out the existing curl pattern in my hair.

I’ll never use another moisturizer. Ever. Miss Jessie’s Curly Buttercreme comes in two scents, Original (peppermint), and “Baby,” which has a mild baby powder scent. I prefer Miss Jessie’s Baby Buttercreme because I don’t like the peppermint smell and the tingling sensation of the regular Curly Buttercreme, but that’s just my personal preference.

When my hair dried, it was not moisturized enough. I should have used oil or butter so that it would sit better and I’m sure if I had, it would have worked to my liking. But the mere fact I found the scent annoying put me off altogether and don’t even make it worth it.

I absolutely adore this product! It came in the hot butter curls kit and became an instant hit with me. I have very thick 3c/4a hair. I love this product because it moisturizes like no other and gave my hair amazing body bounce and shine! I used it on my twist outs and not only did my hair look and feel luxurious but the style lasted all weekend long I didn’t do a touch up until day 4! My wash day is day 6!!! I really do recommend this product please buy it and see for yourself.

I have been using this product on and off for 6 years now (the only reason for “off” is because of the price). The product is called “Curly Buttercreme” but WILL NOT make your hair curly. This product moisturizes extremely dry hair…the driest of hair. My hair is extremely curly, tightly curled, it’s colored and deep conditioned and wet daily. So moisture is what I am looking for. …It does leave a residue but nothing a good shampoo won’t be able to get out. It moisturizes the “popcorns”…..you know when your combing your hair and those dry, coiled curls. So this product is EXCELLENT for natural hair… Not for fine hair.

Ok, I understand this product may not work well for everyone; however, it worked very well for my hair!!! I am very pleased with this product. Since doing the BC in April, I’ve tried numerous products and this product is one of the few that actually works well. ..I know it is a bit pricey, but finally finding a product that makes my hair extra soft and manageable is definitely well worth it. I recommend trying the 2oz size first.
