As an avid believer in chemical-free hair products, I was more than hesitant to try out the sulfate-laden Truly Natural series by celebrated hair care magnate, Pantene Pro V. However, with a few personal recommendations and a slew of YouTube reviews (not to mention a much needed wash), I decided to give the Truly Natural Clarifying Shampoo & Deep Conditioner a go and I must say; I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
Clarifying Shampoo: true to its name, this water-based shampoo provides a superb clean without stripping natural oils and achieving decent moisture retention, compared to most. Recommended for occasional use (maybe every 5-7 co/ moisturizing shampoo washes), it’s the perfect cleansing product to eliminate accumulated product build up and dirt.
Deep Conditioner: while the directions simply state, “apply after shampoo, then rinse” I took the initiative to apply as I would any deep conditioner – a 15-25 minute shower cap treatment followed by a warm water rinse. The outcome, turned out not as silky smooth and curl enhancing as others, however my hair felt and looked incredibly moisturized and tangle free.

I loved the smell of all of the products. Subtle and not overwhelming. Hair is shiny, soft, and smooth and protected. Best of all NO knotted ends and I was able to detangle easily.

Clarifying Shampoo: I tried this on straightened hair that was dirty (really dirty…like almost two weeks dirty) and oily. I did one long shampoo, and it really left my hair feeling clean. I do feel that if I used it weekly or every few days, that it would be a little bit too strong for me.
Deep Conditioner: I slathered it on and squeezed it down the length of my hair and then kept it on for about 15 minutes. I then detangled with a wide tooth comb and my hair was like butter! The detangling effects of this conditioner were excellent. I got great slip and detangling was very easy.

I’m very impressed with this collection considering it is less than $5. The shampoo did not leave my hair feeling extremely dry like most clarifying shampoos. Considering I just took out my extensions, the conditioner did a pretty good job of making it easier to detangle my hair. In the future, I would use the shampoo and conditioner for routine washes.

Don’t like this shampoo. Natural hair requires more conditioning agents to prevent a tangled mess. This shampoo is most definitely not good to use after styles that can be kept up for 2 weeks or longer.

I bought this because I’d already washed my hair three times due to heavy build up and it still had white specks. When I saw this, I thought I’d give it a try since I’d use Pantene when I was relaxed for many years. It lathered up well, nice smell, and I didn’t ave any more white specs!

One application of this product gives a rinse out conditioner, a detangler, a deep conditioner and a leave in conditioner! Brilliant work, Pantene! When used during a shower regimen, I get 3 days of moisture. How awesome is that? When I use it for a few hours after my protein treatment, I get 4-5 days of moisture on my TWA! After using this product three days ago, my curls are still juicy.
