Crochets (or rather ‘the crochet method’) is a way of adding extensions to your hair. As with a weave, the basis of the method is first cornrowing one’s hair then applying the extensions to the cornrows, but in this case by looping the added hair around the cornrow with a crochet needle.
A crochet weave can be installed with any hair that’s not on a weft, which includes, Kanekalon braiding hair, faux locs, kinky curls and even braids. The crochet method generally has the same effect as a weave but some say it places less tension on your hair. Additionally, unlike a weave you can have styles box braids and faux locs installed with crochets.
Don’t forget to buy your hair!
Picking extensions that are exactly the length, texture, color and style you want can be subjective, so we don’t provide the hair for our services, meaning you’ll have to purchase your own. Amazon is a great place to shop for crochet hair. Here are a few options we like:
- Straight Kanekalon hair (for a kinky-straight look)
- Goddess locs (so hot right now!)
- Kinky Curl by Outre X-Pressions (it’s more curly than kinky)
- Havana Mambo Twist (great to wear as twists or unravel them for a twist-out)
