What are feed-in cornrows?

Feed-in cornrows (also known as the Ghana braids) are a modern take on classic cornrows. They’re created by gradually feeding braiding hair into your natural hair, with little to no hair added at the start of the cornrow and then more added as the hair is braided. The results are cornrows that are smaller where they begin and wider where they end, giving a more natural look without all the bulk. Here, you can choose between 3 and 20 cornrows depending on the look you want, from bold and minimalist to intricate and full. (You’ll have a chance to upload a photo of your desired braid pattern after you click “Book”). Great for their flexibility, this style can be worn as-is or paired with accessories or buns.

We don’t carry an extensive inventory of hair, so clients have to purchase their own. But we’ve created this guide if you need recommendations.

How much hair should I buy?

1-2 Cornrows: 1-2 single packs of pre-stretched braiding hair, depending on desired thickness (Unruly, EZ Braid, or X-pression by Outre).
3-10 Cornrows: 2 single packs of pre-stretched hair or this pre-bundled pack.
11-15 Cornrows: 3 single packs of pre-stretched hair or this pre-bundled pack.
16-20 Cornrows: 3 single packs pre-stretched braiding hair or this pre-bundled pack.

How long do Feed-In Cornrows last?

Feed-In Cornrows typically last 1–3 weeks with proper care. The fewer the braids, the shorter they last but the quicker the install and easier the takedown. One of our clients documented how long her braids lasted here.

How do I care for the style?
