Channel your inner afro-diva with Majestic Tresses’ Malaysian Kinky Curly hair for show-stopping volume and length! Expertly hand weft and steam processed with paralleled aligned cuticles, the highly popular line boasts minimal shedding and guaranteed tangle free locks providing a lasting, imperfectly uniformed, all-natural look. Regarded as a “first rate product with high maintenance baggage” throughout the blogosphere (hair blogs, hair sites, YouTube reviews and tutorials), the coarse, afro-curl texture has proven to be taxing for some but we have some simple tips that’s sure to keep your bundle ahead of the curb!

main takeaway

Unlike most processed, afro curled hair, Majestic Tresses’ Malaysian Kinky Curly is packaged and received in a dry, lackluster state. However, hair can be appropriately moisturized and styled as desired. Un’ruly Tip: Avoid product-build up by opting for a light, all-in-one moisturizer and shine serum made of natural ingredients such as jojoba/grape seed oil and water. Use a small spray bottle to manage how much you put on the hair. Note, the less shine, the more be-weavable!

As a result of its hand weft, paralleled aligned cuticles (a method that prevents tangling and shedding), Malaysian Kinky Curly hair is a perfect candidate for weekly to bi-weekly washes. Un’ruly Tip: Encourage a healthy, moisturized curl pattern by employing a moisturizing, sulfate-free shampoo as a cleansing agent, followed by a curl enhancing conditioner.

Blow out and flat iron friendly, Malaysian Kinky Curly offers versatility and an undeniable, smooth finish. Un’ruly Tip: Limit heat exposure every 10 to 12 wears to restrain curl pattern deterioration and preserve overall texture and bounce!

what the manufacturer says

This hair consists of an array of tightly curled, luxurious ringlets, which are tighter than our Deep Curly curls but looser than our Afro Kinky curls (probably similar to 3b/c on the hair texture scale). The hair has a low luster and is extremely soft to the touch. It can be worn in its curly state or flat-ironed for a sleeker look (although this is not recommended as a regular hair style). The hair will revert back its curly texture after being washed.  However, excessive heat use or the use of extremely high temperatures may cause the curl pattern to diminish over time. It is important that this hair is maintained correctly to prevent tangling and excessive shedding.

one blogger’s take

The hair moves and bounces beautifully and when moisturized is not stiff and tough. I’m definitely going to take care of the clip-ins and use them when my fro is a bit more bigger.
