Short hair styles sometimes get flack for being somewhat masculine. However, we believe short cuts are the sophisticated set of the bunch. They’re great because they put your face at the forefront, allowing the contours and angles of your facial features stand out. There’s an elegance about short styles that other styles can’t replicate. So we’re dedicating this week to one of our favorite short hair styles: The Teeny Weeny Afro (also known as the TWA in the natural hair community).
We’ve searched Instagram to find ‘dos that stand out. First up @saralarece, who in this picture is rocking a classic TWA accessorized with a small bandana, gold hoops and oh-so-perfectly defined brows.

I love my hair. Because its my hair. I can twist it braid it straighten it curl it loc it color it chop it all off and start over again as often as I like. My hair is versatile. My hair is thick! Too thick for most combs… And I like it that way. In a time where black girls have to be taught how to love and care for the hair that naturally grows out of their scalp I’m proud to say that my kinky curly mane has never felt better! #blackgirlsrock
