Happened to me the other day, so I figured, why not throw back this last bit of May and look to some of our favorite 90s/00s music videos for hairspiration.

R&B teen queens of the 90s, Brandy and Monica teamed up for the duet, “The Boy is Mine.” The girls are style and hair opposites in the video, as they fight over their two-timing boyfriend.
In a pre-bedtime scene, Brandy tucks her hair into several thick twists, while Monica throws in a few cornrows, pulling her hair into a high ponytail and leaving the rest of her straightened tresses flowing to her shoulders.
We later see the two face-off: Brandy lets down her hundreds of thin lengthy micro braids, while Monica styles her hair in a bone straight middle part, the ends curled in. The simplicity of both looks make them classics. Take a note from the dueling duo and match sleek straight hair with a sleek dress or long skirt.
