With several awe inspiring looks on display at this year’s Met Ball, there’s only one that had the ability to drop jaws and have fashion and beauty columns alike daydreaming for months… none other than the fabulously dual toned, alabaster confection that was Nicole Richie’s pompadour. Regrettably, the House of Harlow designer only wore the dreamy hue for one night. However, she literally embodied the notion that every cloud has a silver lining, indeed!

How does a hair style achieve hair trend glory? Well in the past seven years or so, such power has been placed in the hands of some chick named Rihanna. Maybe you’ve heard of her? Following her 2006 asymmetrical bob cut, the Bajan beauty has fore fronted countless hair inspiring looks from pixies to undercuts (of all lengths) and who can forget 2010’s shocking ruby red locks. Most recently in August 2013 Rihanna took a swing at silver hair stardom with this edgy-chic, grey highlights look, a demure alternative to the fashion forwardly bright, root to tip color.

The art of bleaching hair can be a beautiful but highly dangerous process, especially for black hair (natural or relaxed). To lessen the chances of severe hair breakage or loss, opt for a sectioned colored only look, as shown above by afro punk R&B songstress Kelis.

Whether highlighted, frosted, or tinted silver foxes are fast approaching as the new blondes. Wave au revoir to your summery hues and get prepared for the new icy looks of the upcoming fall/winter season today!
