Question:
I’ve gone completely creamy crack free for almost a year now because I was expecting. My hair has always been hard to keep and look moisturized. What can I do to help my hair look shiny and feel healthy?
– Shani
Answer:
Hello Shani,
Congratulations! Textured hair can very often have the appearance of looking dull even when it is healthy, especially after you have taken prenatal vitamins. I’m sure your hair is healthy or you are on the road to healthy tresses.
Make sure that you are incorporating regular deep conditioning treatments into your regimen, which will ensure healthy hair. In addition, you may want to take a hair vitamin or continue taking your prenatal vitamin and/or fish oil capsules and a good daily vitamin that will help produce natural oil flow. Additionally, I encourage my clients to clarify their hair every thirty days to remove product build up. Product build up over time will give the appearance of dull hair.
Another key component that will assist with adding a natural luster and shine to textured tresses is a bi-weekly deep conditioning treatment. If you are a DIY Mixtress, be sure to include honey in your mix, as it is an amazing ingredient for adding shine to hair. Yet another wonderful ingredient to add to your DIY mix is pure/organic vegetable glycerin because it will also help add a temporary shine to your tresses. And finally, sealing your hair with pure or organic oils (in moderation) will also help enhance the glow to your tresses.
All the best,
#TheCurlWhisperer
