Question:
What can I do to make my perm last longer? Do you have advice for women who experience lots of new growth?
– Britney
Answer:
Hi Britney,
Fortunately for you, your hair grows fast! But it can be costly and possibly damaging to relax hair before the six to eight weeks when you are usually due for a touch up. Try these tips:
- Blow dry hair straight! Always use a heat protectant and blow dry roots smooth, followed by a flat iron. When done correctly, you can stretch out your relaxers even longer!
- Instead of going straight, you can go curly! Try doing wet sets such as a roller sets or rod sets to blend the texture of the new growth and the texture of the relaxed hair.
- Lastly, try a protective style to stretch out the last few weeks. You can opt for braids, twists, or even extensions!
